🌞 1. Play to Enjoy
Golf is our excuse to gather, giggle, and get outside. Skill levels vary—fun doesn’t. Turn up early, meet old and new friends and have time for a cuppa and a chat before the serious fun begins.
👭 2. Three’s a Competition
Three or more players = game on. Prizes optional, but cheeky titles are encouraged.
🎲 3. Format Flexibility
We mix it up: Stableford, Scramble, nearest the Pins etc ” Got a fun idea? Let us know
📊 4. Handicaps Are Helpful, but only if accurate
We encourage everyone to keep their handicap relevant. We aim to play off 100% handicaps, but may make thoughtful adjustments if needed to keep things fair and even for all.
🤝 5. Mix & Mingle
Social games are about connection. Players must be willing to play with anyone—regardless of club, handicap, or how many balls they brought.
🐢 6. Pace of Play: Keep It Breezy
We keep things moving, but no stopwatch stress. Chat, cheer, and swing at your own rhythm. Pick up if appropriate and be aware of your playing partners
💖 8. Kindness Is Par for the Course
Compliments over critiques. We celebrate great shots and laugh off the rest. Ask for help if you want some … there’s always someone in a group who can help
📝 9. Personal Scorecards Optional
Keep your own score if you like. For team games we’ll keep a team card and of course we will all remember the highlights—like bunker ballet or surprise birdies.
📸 10. Photos & Fun
Group pics, silly poses, and celebratory selfies are part of the tradition. Say “Sociable Golfers”
🍰 11. Post-Round Rituals
Drinks, debriefs, and maybe cake. The 19th hole is where legends (and laughter) live.
For Opens and Charity Days payment is required at the time of the formal booking with the organisers. One Sociable Golf member will make the team booking. A bespoke Whatsapp group will be set up for those in the specific team only and details of who payment should be made to will be circulated on the group. Please ensure payment is made swiftly.
For Social Monthly Events payment is usually required on the day. One member of the group will make the payment at the club on arrival and then collect relevant sums from each player in cash.
Sometimes changes are required and we will do everything possible to assist in finding a replacement . Please inform Ali Mackway as soon as you are aware of the need to change.
Where a replacement is found it is the responsibility of the original player to agree any costs and take any payments. In the event that a substitute is not able to be found then the original player will forfeit the costs.
It is the responsibility of each individual player to arrange and make payment for such requirements It is advisable to use the bespoke WhatsApp group per event to liaise with others and where possible share costs of lifts, buggies etc
Each Social Monthly Event will be a team format and a prize will be given to each player in the winning team. All players are asked to contribute £3 towards the cost of these.
The listed Price for Social Monthly Events covers only the Tee fee ( unless otherwise stated)
The listed price for Opens and Charity Days covers all aspects as per the specific clubs conditions
Most Opens set a 36HC limit and in view of that we also have the same policy within the group. We never wish to exclude anyone and will encourage those not yet at 36 to complete regular general play cards and get their handicaps down....
This social golf group was founded to bring together players from a variety of clubs and with a wide range of abilities. Its purpose is to create an inclusive, welcoming environment where golfers can enjoy the game, meet new people, and take part in team-based competitions and social rounds at different venues.
We coordinate dates and venues, sharing event details via our website and WhatsApp group. Members are free to choose which events they’d like to attend, and teams are then formed to ensure a balanced and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Importantly, the group was set up to avoid cliques, exclusionary behaviour, and divisions based on handicap or personal preference. We ask all members to embrace the ethos of openness, fairness, and camaraderie, and to remain flexible and respectful when teams are formed.
For Open Events, it is understood that some players may enter as pairs or fours, and these groupings will generally be kept together. However, for Social Events, the organiser will mix teams to encourage variety in playing partners and to promote new connections. Where possible, handicaps will be balanced across teams to ensure fair and enjoyable play.
Thank you for helping us maintain the inclusive and social spirit that makes this group special.
